Coverage spans North America (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City), Europe (London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Warsaw, Istanbul, Moscow), Asia (Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, Dubai, Shanghai, Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangalore, Jakarta), Oceania (Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland), Africa (Lagos, Nairobi, Cairo, Johannesburg), and South America (São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Lima). If your city is not in the list, the search automatically falls back to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoder to find any city worldwide.

What is timezone overlap?
Timezone overlap is the window when all members of a distributed team are simultaneously within their normal working hours. A team with members in New York, London, and Singapore typically has only 1–2 hours of true overlap per day. Finding this window is critical for scheduling standups, sprint planning, and team retrospectives that include everyone.
How is this different from other timezone tools?
Most timezone converters handle one-to-one conversions — you enter a time in one city and see it in another. Overlap Timezone shows a full 24-hour colour-coded grid for all cities simultaneously, making the overlap window instantly visible at a glance. No login required, no signup, and it works as a self-contained offline-capable page. It also generates shareable meeting links, Google Calendar exports, and embeddable widgets for team documentation.
Does it handle Daylight Saving Time?
Yes. All timezone calculations use the browser's native Intl.DateTimeFormat API, which automatically handles DST transitions based on the current date. The grid always shows today's actual UTC offsets — you never need to manually adjust for summer or winter time. This is especially important for US–Europe teams, where DST switch dates differ by 2–3 weeks in March and October.
Is my data private?
Your city selections are stored only in the URL and in your browser's localStorage — they are never transmitted to or stored on any server. Overlap has no backend and no user accounts. Aggregate traffic is measured with Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled, and no advertising or retargeting cookies are set by us. Read our full privacy policy for details.

Why Overlap Timezone is different
Unlike traditional timezone converters that require you to manually enter times and mentally compute overlaps, Overlap Timezone is purpose-built for the question remote teams actually ask: "When is everyone awake at the same time?" The visual grid makes the answer immediately obvious — green columns are where your team overlaps, and you can click to schedule directly from there.
When no perfect overlap exists — common for teams spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas — Overlap scores every UTC hour and recommends the best-effort compromise slot. This "least-bad" recommendation factors in each team member's local hour and favours working hours over early mornings or late evenings. Timezone reference pages
Alongside the interactive grid we publish a set of static reference pages, each recomputed from the IANA timezone database at build time rather than stored as a fixed table. The time difference pages cover specific city pairs — the current offset, both cities' daylight saving transition dates, and an hour-by-hour comparison of their working days. The city timezone pages cover a single city: its IANA zone, whether it observes daylight saving, and how its working day lines up with the major business hubs.
