Daylight saving
Singapore does not observe daylight saving — this offset is fixed all year. Stockholm next moves its clocks back on 25 October 2026, to UTC+1.
Only one side changes its clocks
Stockholm observes daylight saving and Singapore does not. The difference between these two cities is therefore not constant — it changes twice a year, entirely because of the Stockholm side. A recurring meeting fixed to local time in Singapore will appear to move by an hour in Stockholm, and vice versa.
Scheduling across this corridor
Southeast Asia sits far enough ahead of Europe that the overlap falls at the very start of the European day and the very end of the Asian one. Morning in London or Berlin is early evening in Singapore or Jakarta, which is the only realistic meeting window. Neither Singapore nor Indonesia observes daylight saving, so the whole seasonal swing comes from the European side and the gap narrows by an hour when Europe is on summer time.
About Singapore
Singapore holds a fixed offset year-round with no daylight saving, eight hours ahead of UTC — a notable detail given its longitude, since the country sits further east on the clock than the sun would suggest. Its position makes it the standard meeting point for Asian regional business, with a working day that reaches both the European morning and the Australian afternoon.
About Stockholm
Stockholm runs on Central European Time and follows the EU clock-change schedule. The Swedish working day starts early and ends early, and the extreme seasonal variation in daylight — near-continuous light in June, a few hours in December — has a real effect on when people want to meet, even though it does not change the clock.
